NZMS 2005!

Ah another AIESEC Conference!

It really is something that you have to experience =p

Sure the sessions are great, the parties are fun, but the people... it's the people that make a conference!

Now I'm personally not someone who can consistently stay up all night, as I'm sure many of you have experienced, in the non dodgy sense. Because of this I didn't have the time to get to know everyone at the venue. But the personal connections you make with just a handful of people make it worthwhile.

It's crazy how you can just chat with someone who you've just met, for hours and hours about something meaningful. Sure it may happen occasionally in real life, but at conference everyone is so open to meeting new different people. It's a really great environment to interact with people from different backgrounds! How many different nationalities were at conference this year?? Swiss, German, Indian, Turkish, Lithuanian (and that was just the AIESEC countries, if you looked at the nationalities of the kiwi delegates you would have gotten a whole other representation!)

I think I really understand my team so much better now. Before conference we may have said "Hi!" but now we really really say "Hello!" I still remember sitting outside, looking over the lake outside the Waipuna hotel, talking with someone who I've worked with side by side for months. But at the lake she was sharing something really important about herself, her perspective (I won't go into too many details!). You don't always have the opportunity to talk about significant things in our day to day work environment. If nothing else this one moment was worth the $200 for me =)

I could write a massive story about every single night! But I think I need to move on =)

Quick comment about our newbies this year. I love them!
